Favourite line:"Call the Fremonts, fast! And for Pete's sake, don't let them eat anything!"

Considered one of the first movies to feature explicitly gory special effects, schlock-meister Herschell Gordon Lewis (The Gore Gore Girls, The Wizard of Gore) serves up a confusing tale of a ruthless and sadistic Egyptian caterer, with a particular penchant for slicing open pretty young things and playing with their innards.
Plot wise, this is almost redundant, as the story very much is supplied only as a means to frame some fairly grisly set-pieces, though the budgetary limitations and the technology of the time renders most of the FX silly, rather than sickening. Much use is made of real innards and offal, though we can only assume they came from an animal rather than a real person.
Shame.
By turns hilarious and gross, this is one for gore completists only, and is certainly not as entertaining as the psychadelic Wizard, nr the downght batty Gore Gore Girls. Historically interesting, then, but little more than that.
