Rating:3/5
IMDB link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115964/
Tagline:The most controversial film you will ever see.
Favourite line:"The car crash is a fertilizing rather than a destructive event."

Bizarre and disturbing, this is the tale of a group of individuals who derive sexual satisfaction from watching and/or being involved in car crashes.
The direction is very odd, making use of alienation techniques to really move the audience away from the movie, thus depriving the viewer of any emotional attachment to either the individuals on screen or the proceedings, and it is clear that this was intentional. You are not meant to feel for the characters, merely to study and consider their actions and motivations. In this way, you are provided with an impartial insight. If you don't feel for someone, you can make decisions about them without bias.
Original and challenging, this does drag a little towards the end but, yet again, Cronenberg pushes the envelope in terms of what is possible in cinema.
