There's been something of a spate of exorcism movies over the last few years and, of that bunch, this was probably the first.

The plot:
A lawyer is drafted in to stand for the defence in a case of negligent homicide, the homicide in question allegedly committed by a priest in his attempts to perform an exorcism on a possessed girl.

Dexter's sister, Jennifer Carpenter plays the titular character but most of the action centres around the priest and his increasingly desperate attempts to save the poor wretch.
Though there is nothing truly awful about this movie, something about it just didn't work for me. Whether that was the rather trite staging of the movie as a courtroom drama, or the grim inevitability of the 'possessed' effects, this felt laboured and stale and, frankly, had I been possessed whilst viewing, I get the feeling the demonic entity may well have fled my corpulent grotesquery of a body just to spare itself the tedium.
Disappointing then, this one.
