Uitterly bizarre, bewildering, disturbing and downright disgusting Euro-'exploitation' that is part fairytale, part family drama, and part plain odd.
From the little I could work out, this seems to be about sexual discovery and exploration, as seen through the eyes of - inevitably - a beautiful woman.
There are nods to animal lust (the beast itself, stallions mating), romance inverted (a woman masturbating with rose petals), as well as the appeal of the male member in all its sticky glory (multiple shots of The Beast's phallus spouting gouts of sticky white fluid).
The movie starts with a statement of intent, with lots of close up shots of the genitals of stallions and mares, the stallions penis fully erect and the mares vagina distended and ready for action. This really is gynaecological in it's detail, and must be very stimulating for those into bestiality. Opening a movie in this way is a sure fire way of saying, heh, this isn't Disney folks.
After that the movie descends into a frankly tiresome section concerning the goings on of a well to do French family, and various secrets and shames that have been hidden.
But the plot is incidental, and dull as concrete.
No, this is all about the visuals, lurid, provocative and bizarre.
Sexually explicit throughout, though more weird than anything else, this is only in the horror section as I don't know where elses to put it.
Oh, and The Beast is some kind of werewolf.
One for all the family then.....
