Slasher franchise running out of steam?
Could it be true?
Yes it is, folks.
Everyone's favourite psychopathic policeman is back, reanimated by voodoo after being burnt so spectacularly at the end of number two.

A female police officer is framed for using unnecessary force when tackling an armed robbery and, for reasons that I couldn't quite determine, Maniac Cop aka Matt Cordell sets out to right the wrong done to her, with a little help from the voodoo meister.

Robert Davi returns as Detectice McKinney, hot on his trail and, save for another stunning finale, this is a bit of a disappointment.
But the climax, folks, the climax is stunning.
I kid you not, our hero MC spends the last fifteen or twenty minutes on fire again and, this time, he drives around whilst aflame in a ball burstingly funny high speed pursuit. You've got to see it to believe it but it is as if the production team decided that the best thing about number 2 was the fire sequence at the end (it was) and thought, 'Heh, how can we top that?'
Bizarre, amusing, not at all scary, it is a real hoot.
Besides that, a relatively tame ending to the series.
For devotees only, I should think.
