Directed by none other than Bruce 'Ash' Campbell himself, this sees Campbell wilfully lampooning his own career and public image in a horror comedy that manages what so few do: to actually be quite funny.
The plot:
A small town in Shitsville, US of A, is being menaced by an ancient Chinese demon. One of the residents is a lifelong Bruce Campbell fan and manages to get in touch and get him to the town. When told the story, Bruce believes that it is a wacky birthday present from his agent, and plays along with what he believes to be pure fiction. That is until the demon puts in an appearance and Bruce suddenly realises that the tale he was told is true, at which point his true colours come shining through and, like a raging coward, he flees as fast as the pick up truck will carry him.
Silly, charming and with an understanding of horror that only a true devotee could muster, this is entertaining from start to finish.
Fan boys only may appreciate the humour, but that suits me just fine.
