Argento is back in familiar Giallo territory, with all that that entails.
Young, female victim in wait, spooky shots of the killer without seeing his face for long periods of the movie, beautifully choreographed murder scenes, and rampant, unflinching, visceral violence.
As ever, music plays an important part here, perhaps unsurprisingly given the title of the movie.
The plot is straight forward enough: a young actress gets what appears to be a lucky break when she is offered the lead role in an opera after the previous lead actress was run over(!), but soon it transpires that she is being stalked by an individual who wants her to do more than sing him an aria.
Stylish, menacing and taut, this is Argento at his best.
