Favourite line:" It wouldn't be the first time in history a monster was mistaken for a god."

This is great fun.

New Yorkers are astonished and frightened by reports of a huge lizard flying around their cities skies.
A bank robber attempts a robbery, and ends up hiding out at the top of the Chrysler building, one of the tallest skyscrapers in NYC, where he discovers a giant egg. Could this be the nest for the lizard being talked about?
And can he somehow make a buck out of it?

Apparently this movie came about from a simple idea that the director, Larry Cohen ('The Stuff,' 'Phone Booth') had when he saw the Chrysler building. He always thought that it looked like a nest on top of the building, so thought it would just be a great one line pitch for a movie.
And indeed it is.
The effects are stop motion, very much in the Ray Harryhausen mould, and the script not too hot, but this is just about kicking back with a beer or a joint, and enjoying this in all its hokey splendour.
Great.
