Year:2004
Country of origin:USA
Director:David Koepp
Genre:Psychological psychopath thriller
Starring:Johnny Depp, John Turturro, Maria Bello
Rating:3/5
IMDB link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363988/
Tagline:The most important part of a story is the ending.
Favourite line:"Do you wanna wake up from one of your stupid naps and find Amy nailed to yer garbage bin? Or turn on the radio one morning and find out that she came off second best in a match with the chainsaw you keep out in the shed? Do ya?"

Effective, though ultimately predictable and 'safe' chiller.

Jonhhy Depp plays Morton Rainey, a successful writer, recently estranged from his wife who is now living with another man - the dirty beggar.
One day, a writer named John Shooter turns up on his doorstep and accuses him of plagiarism, claiming that a story published under Rainey's name was actually written by himself several years ago.
Thing is, Morton can't quite recall if what Shooter is saying is true. And what does this have to do with the feelings of rage and envy he still feels towards his wife and her new beau?

Johnny Depp, as always, is eminently watchable, though you get the feeling at times he is just treading water.
The plot is ok, though not as clever as it seems to think it is, and the shocks are handled in a competent, though perfunctory way.
Not bad, but not one I'll be reaching for again in a hurry.
