Favourite line:"Hey, you know what's scarier than not believing in God? Believing in him. I mean, really believing in him. It's a fucking terrifying thought."

The delectable Patricia Arquette plays Frankie Paige, a woman suffering from a sudden bout of the old stigmata - bleeding from the hands and feet in the apparent locations of the wounds inflicted upon that most famous of fictional characters, Jesus Christ, Son of God. At the same time, a Catholic priest is investigating reports of dramatic religious occurrences in a small town in Brazil in the form of statues bleeding from their eyes.
Inevitably, the two events come together for a dramatic conclusion.

Intriguing and intelligent, this is a questioning movie that challenges the very notion of religious belief.
Controversial and provocative, lovers of blasphemy everywhere should give this a go.
