Tagline: I: Let the bad color not be seen. It attracts them. II: Never enter the woods. That is where they wait. III: Heed the warning bell, for they are coming.
Favourite line:"Sometimes we don't do things we want to do so that others won't know we want to do them."

An unnamed, isolated village lives with fear hanging over the heads of the inhabitants.
An uneasy truce is held in place between the population of the village and sinister, mythical creatures that roam the surrounding forest.
The villagers appease the creatures by offering up gifts of meat, and encircling the perimeter of the habitation with torchlight.
Joaquim Phoenix's Lucius Hunt seeks permission to pass through the forest to the towns beyond to seek medicine and, when denied, breaks the border anyway.
It's not long before the truce is shattered, and the sinister creatures are moving through the village at nightfall.
And the most shocking truth of all, the 'Shyamalan ending' as it were, will have you simply falling off your seat in surprise.

Taut, intriguing, mixing pathos with suspense, this is an effective chiller that keeps you glued.
Maybe not as inspiring as either The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, this is certainly much better than critics would have you believe and, as mentioned, if you guess the ending to this one your IQ must be off the scale.
Very good.
