Set in a future where humanity has been all but wiped out by a great war, only one city remains - Olympus. Here, a Utopian society has been created where humans and biomechanical people called Bioriods co-exist in almost perect harmony. But some military types - you know they are military types because of their square jaws - hate the Bioriods and want rid of them. This disharmony centres on a lone female, Deunan, who seems to hold the key to vanquishing the Bioriods. A group of wizened old men called The Seven Elders are Custodians of a great machine called Gaia, and this makes the decisions that hold the city's destiny.
An interesting and intelligent plot, this is absolutely amazing.
The visuals are stunning. Yes, it's CGI, but you quickly forget that and are sucked in.
The Matrix influence is very apparent, though again this does not detract.
One of the best anime I've seen in a long while.
Superb.
