A team of astronauts are sent to the planet Altair-4 to investigate the sudden lack of commuinication from a colony based there.
What they discover is the secret of an ancient, long dead race called The Krell, a race that boosted their own IQ, but with devastating consequences. Inadvertantly, they unleashed beasts from within themselves - Monsters from the Id - and the same thing is happening again due to the experiments of one Dr Morbius.

An interesting concept, well executed, with some stunning special effects for the time - though Robbie the Robot looks a bit silly to modern eyes - this is a movie that, though old, has stood the test of time very well indeed.
