Mega-budget adventure romp which sees an Ancient Egyptian curse reviving the legendary Imhotep, a high Priest put to death for killing his Pharoah Seti and, perhaps more troublingly, sleeping with his true love.

Imhotep is killed using the legendary Hom-Dai, a curse so powerful it carries forth to the afterlife.
Brendan Fraser plays Rick O'Connell, a typical rogue hero character, assisting Weisz's Evelyn Carnahan discover the truth about the ancient city of Hamunaptra and, unbeknownst to the adventurers, this is the resting place of Imhotep himself.
And once he's back to life, he has no intention of dying again too easily.....

Noisy, raucous, dumb and, in places 'wacky', this tries to hit the balance of rollicking adventure and high-jinx humour of the Indiana Jones movies, but falls sadly short.
The effects are the driving force of the movie - never a good thing - and, incredibly, as with many films of the late 90's, the CGI effects are starting to look a bit ropey already. Way too long at 2 hours, a decent set-up is let down by a madcap, chaotic finale that just left me cold.
Not rubbish, just not very good.
