Stunningly beautiful, haunting and thought provoking anime from the Grand Master, Hayao Miyazaki.
This is essentially a cautionary tale about the power of nature, and the damage that mankind can wreak.

A young boy, Ashitaka, confronts an evil God of the Forest, and manages to destroy it, though not entirely. An aspect of its essence tranfers into himself, and he must travel to a distant place to find a cure. Along the way he finds himself caught in a bitter war between the creatures of the forest, led by Princess Mononoke, and a mining company intent on exploiting the beautiful, fertile land.

The ecological message is clear, and it is more and more relevant with each passing year. The animation, as ever, is simply gorgeous, and only the sturdiest, most heartless fiends will not be touched by the warmth and magic of this wonderful tale.
Simply brilliant.
