I was massively disappointed by this.
Much hyped by media types salivating over the 'zaniness' of it, this is wantonly over the top, and eschews intelligent one liners for the majority of the time in favour of pratfalling and absurdity.
I know, I know, it's a comedy, don't take it too seriously, and I tried not to but the problem for me here was I spent more time grimacing in embarrassment for the people involved than actually laughing and, surely, that's not what they were after. Will 'Uber-Jock' Ferrell plays Ron Burgundy, a self styled important guy who happens to be lead anchor for the San Diego area. When a young upstart female journalist starts to invade his territory - played by the simply ravishing Christina Applegate - his life quickly deteriorates.
It has it's moments, and there are the occasional laugh out loud moments, but they are too few and far between, and in the meantime you'll just be squirming, wondering what all the fuss is about.
Over-rated.
