Eastwood's breakthrough movie, when he transmigrated from small screen to the big, and created a movie icon that is still admired today.

He plays 'The Man With No Name' (so, is that technically his name?), a wanderer and a gunfighter who winds up caught in a two way rivalry. He is intelligent, wise and unruffled by anything, and ultimately schemes to make himself a rich man, though, interestingly, he only steals from morally suspect individuals.

Directorally stunning, with Morricone's sweeping score to carry things, this is a legitimate triumph of cinema.
Wonderful.
