From the team that brought us the excellent Alias (J. J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman) this is slickly produced, well written and packed with energy.
The premise:
The Fringe Division are a small group working alongside the FBI, whose mission is to investigate any incidents which deal with the fringe sciences. Teleportation, psychic powers, genetically engineered organisms, and even trans-dimensional activity.
Brought together to investigate something known as The Pattern - a series of mysterious events that appear to be linked - the team is made up of Olivia Dunham, a tough, professional agent, Walter Bishop, a mad scientist in every sense of the word and his son Peter, who is primarily in charge of interpreting Walter's erratic thought processes.
With it's confident mix of X-Files style conspiracies, sci-fi trappings, and lashings of gore to keep the horror fiends happy, this is a cross genre affair that succeeds on every front.
An excellent cast, top quality writing and state of the art production standards make this a superior slice of modern American TV.
Great stuff.
