The best British movie ever made?
Well, that's for others to decide, but this one must come close.
Bob Hoskins is absolutely stunning, and this tale of the criminal underworld in London in the late 70's is breathtaking, absorbing and violent.
The brevity of time in which the film takes place adds a real urgency to proceedings (think 24 with Cockney accents), this is pulsating, action packed, grim and adventurous. London never looked so malevolent.
The music also deserves a mention, as it is a real heart pounder.
A superb gangster movie.
