Have you ever wondered what the day to day life of a gangster might be like?
Well, if so, this is the show for you.
Following the life of the head of the New Jersey mafia, Tony Soprano, this seems him in all aspects of life, from working with his employees to running the business, to 'taking out' people who have betrayed him, right through to family life and even analysing his psychology, as most episodes feature a scene with him at the psychiatrists.
I've seen this series quoted as 'the show that divides America' as, much like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.
I fall very much in the latter camp.
Tony himself is excellent, a genuine anti-hero, and you find yourself empathising with him no matter the evil deeds he either commits or sanctions.
A superb supporting cast, and razor sharp scripting makes this a cut above most family based drama's.
