Year:1979
Country of origin:Italy
Director:Ruggero Deodato
Genre:Cannibals, obviously
Starring:Robert Kerman, Francesca Ciardi
Rating:2/5
IMDB link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078935/
Tagline:Ripout! Barbeque! Devour! How long can you take it?
Favourite line:"Today people want sensationalism; the more you rape their senses the happier they are."

Another cannibal offering that thrives more on its reputation as a video nasty than on the actual quality of the movie itself.
This is shot in documentary style, and the plot is that a group of scientists went into the rainforest and never returned. A second expedition sets out to try and find out what happened to them, and find their recordings, which we then watch alongside the researchers.
Disturbing?
In places, yes, but this is more about upsetting than disturbing in a way that actually makes you think about anything. Graphic scenes of animals being killed are distasteful to say the least, and these are in abundance - much more so than any actual horror gore.
Grimy rape scenes add to the feeling that this is all pretty unsettling.
I didn't enjoy this one bit, but then, I don't think that you are supposed to.
Not very nice.
