A team set off, essentially to disprove the myth of cannibalism and to demonstrate, once and for all, that cannibalism does not exist.
Luckily, in the name of making a gore movie, they are wrong.
Very wrong.
On their journey they have the misfortune of running into a drug runner, who has taken it upon himself to really annoy the local cannibals in the Amazon rainforest. He managed this by castrating one of their own.
Some people are so damn touchy.
Anyway, the cannibals don't take kindly to this, hunt them and capture the group and set about, for the last 30 minutes of the movie, torturing them and humiliating them in the most graphic ways possible.
Castration, breast impalement, leech infested water cages and, my personal favourite, scalping and then eating the brains.
Gore levels are set to splatter, and the notorious scenes do live up to their reputations.
There are occasional, and unfortunate, moments of real life animal dismemberment (unnecessary), but overall this is an effective and disturbing movie
