Favourite line:"Are you kidding? Your guy's got a camera. Mine's got a flamethrower."

Surprisingly well made monster fest.

The plot:
C.H.U.D. - Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller.
People are going missing in New York City, in particular the homeless and one soup kitchen worker informs a policeman that the denizens that infest the city's sewers are scared for their lives. They believe that a monster is picking them off whilst they sleep and, inevitably, they are correct.

That's pretty much it plotwise, but this is really about the cool monster effects and boy, do they look great.
A leathery, mutated creature roams the sewers at night, feeding on the flesh of the unwashed multitudes forced to live below ground, eyes aglow as it stalks its prey. And there's more than one of them, too, a veritable culture of flesh-eaters.
Well shot, with above average acting and screenplay for the genre, this is a well crafted slice of hokey horror.
My only criticism is the limited screen time devoted to the C.H.U.D. themselves.
Liked it a lot.
