Not as bad as I had heard, the scenes with the dog attacking when rabid are quite effective and tense, though after a while the constant screaming and barking gets to be a bit headache inducing.
Otherwise, an unexceptional adaptation of one of Stephen King's best books.
Of course, you don't get the dog's point of view as in the novel, which is a shame, but would have presumably seemed a bit silly on camera.
Decent if not essential viewing.
