Favourite line:"You'd be amazed what you'll agree to when you're on fire."

Action director stalwart Peter Hyams churns out another slab of mediocrity, this time starring The Austrian Timber Merchant as a troubled Private Investigator who is inadvertantly caught up in a case involving the very Devil himself.

It's 1999, and New Years Eve is only a couple of days away. Satan pitches up on Earth and possesses the body of Gabriel Byrne in order to allow himself to procreate with Tunney's Christine York. Apparently, she was born at the precisely required time to enable him to produce a child of human descent, thus ushering in The End of Days, as prophecised in that well known work of fiction, The Bible.

So far, so blasphemous, but it's not as good as it should be.
The set pieces are incoherent throughout, and the script is sloppy.
A plus point is Arnie's sidekick, Bobby, played by Kevin Pollak, acidly witty, but overall the negatives outweigh the positives.
Far from the worst movie you'll ever see, but there are better actioners out there by far, and most of them star Arnhult himself.
