Favourite line:"Just because a girl knows how to imitate a woman, does NOT mean she's ready to do what a woman does."

Controversial and effective horror thriller from debutant director Slade.

Ellen Page plays Kayley Stark, a 14 year old, streetwise kid who befriends an older man on a chat room. She agrees to meet him after several weeks, and they wind up back at his apartment. He's a photographer, and seems to have a particular fascination with very young female models. Thing is, what he doesn't know is that Hayley has his number, and has allowed herself to be groomed by him, wilfully going back to his apartment not to be seduced by his maturity, rather to issue payback for his past crimes.
She poisons his drink, strings him up, and then the fun begins.

A troubling subject matter is dealt with skilfully, and there are some genuinely disturbing moments.
The interplay between the two characters is excellent, as the man's suffering gradually ratchets, including and beyond an amateur castration by the fledgling surgeon.
Thought provoking, intelligent and excellently acted, this is a superb movie.
