Favourite line:"What you think of as pain is a shadow. Pain has a face. Allow me to show it to you. Gentlemen, I... Am... Pain"

One of the weakest of the series, even though the storyline is promising.

It is the 23rd century, and Pinhead and posse are now onboard a spacecraft(!). Also on board happens to be a scientist, one of whose forefathers created the original Lament Configuration box. As a result, he feels duty bound to reverse the effect by creating an opposing box that has the exact opposite principle, to close the Gate to Hell forever, thus trapping the Cenobites in the domain to which they truly belong.

The main problem with the movie is the direction, which is flat and lifeless. Indeed, this is an Alan Smithee directed movie, the name given to a director who wished to have his name removed from the project (I have heard that this was actually directed by Hickox again, as was the third instalment.)
An okay effort, but only for Hellraiser aficionados.
