This is one of the more unusual offerings in the Hellraiser series, almost playing out as an old fashioned detective thriller in the Raymond Chandler mould.
At least that's what they were going for ;-)
Craig Sheffer plays the lead who is already familiar to Barker fans as the lead in Nightbreed (a far superior film to this one, to be honest).
The plot essentially is that Sheffer plays a corrupt policeman, who - for reasons I can't quite recall - opens the Lament Configuration, and is transported to another world, the world of torture, sadism, pain and, of course, Cenobites.
Well directed, with acceptable acting, Hellraiser devotees should be pleased enough.
