Argento again, and he's back in Suspiria territory.

Bizarre murders are occurring simultaneously, both in New York and in Rome, and a brother sister team begin to investigate them. What they stumble on (this would normally seem odd, but you have to remember this is an Argento movie!) is a coven of witches in both cities, known as The Three Mothers.

And that's about where the plot loses cohesion entirely.
But that's ok.
This is about atmosphere, striking visuals and great set-pieces. And they all are present in abundance.
Clearly developing the themes from Suspiria (I'll have a page for Suspiria sometime soon hopefully), but here relying on visuals as opposed to plotting, this is a masterpiece of European cinema making of the most artistic kind.
Of course, sniffy critics will never acknowledge it.
They don't know what they're missing.
