Clive Barkers second directorial outing, and this is an altogether more ambitious piece in terms of scope than his debut movie, Hellraiser.
Aaron Boone is a troubled man, haunted by recurring nightmares about a group of mutants living beneath a cemetery.
He's convinced they're real.
He is also seeing a psychiatrist, played with wonderful menace by none other than David Cronenberg, who convinces him that he is in fact a rampant serial killer, responsible for the deaths of countless families.
The truth, though, is far more complex.
Great make-up, some wondeful Barkeresque dialogue, and a few moments of stomach churning gore and violence, this is top notch horror.
Shame Barker couldn't keep it up.
