The definitive Satanic child movie sees Gregory Peck and Lee Remmick being the unfortunate recipients of a child who is born of a jackal.
They don’t know this, so can't be blamed in all fairness.
As he grows up, mysterious deaths seem to surround him, and a bizarre priest played with great panache by Patrick 'Doctor Who' Troughton tries to convince Peck's character - an American ambassador to Britain - that all is not as it seems. He claims that child is marked by the devil and will, if allowed to live, bring about Satan's resurrection, as prophesized in a verse from The Bible itself.
(Interestingly, the prophecy is a work of pure fiction but, fuck me, does it sound great. So good, in fact, that Iced Earth used it as the main chorus for their track Damien!)
Any road up, Peck must determine if the insane dribblings of the priest are true, and face the consequences if so.....

Effective, with some excellent set pieces - David Warner's head lopping, the nanny hanging, Troughton's impalement just to mention a few - and one of the most famous music scores in movie history, this is one of the best horror movies of all time.
