Favourite line:"Now this won't hurt a bit. Well, maybe just a little bit."

Well, well, well, finally a Phantasm movie I can pick holes in and give a rating other than the majestic five skulls that the first three movies received.

Continuing directly on from the last movie, this installment sees Michael flitting from time zone to time zone, accompanied by his long-since-dead brother Jody, who may or may not be in collaboration with The Tall Man.

This one goes for epic but comes up a little short.
Bearing in mind the low budget (under a million dollars reputedly), Coscarelli still manages to infuse the screen with plenty of atmosphere, but as a result of the finances, the effects are dropped to a minimum.
Filling in some back story about The Tall Man's origins is the main aim of this movie, and it is successful, as well as expanding the connections between his and Michaels' characters, by some clever use of footage from the original movie.
It's good because it's Phantasm and therefore I'll tolerate a lot, but it's not great Phantasm.
Still love the theme music though.
