The first slasher movie?
Well probably and, even though it has certainly dated, it still stands up today as a great film.
Anthony Perkins is superb as the deranged and damaged Norman Bates - his scenes bristle with menace - and most of the support are credible too.
The only real problem watching it now is that some of the scenes with dialogue seem a little clunky, particularly towards the end, but this can be put down to audiences lack of sophistication some 40 odd years ago.
A great movie, and a must see, especially for horror fans, but recommended to all.
