This is absolutely demented.
This Belgian horror movie - a curiosity in itself - centres around an aristocratic family who gather at a dinnner party, mainly to brook favour from the two old biddies whose wills they hope to profit from.
And a grisly selection of inbreeds they are, too, each and every one utterly despicable; greedy, selfish and without a single redeeming feature.
As the dinner party gets into full swing amid eventful conversation, the grannies inadvertantly drink some wine tainted by a chemical which has the unfortunate side effect of transforming them into savage, flesh eating demons that set to devouring their dinner guests! And it's a riot.
The acting is absolutely shocking - seriously, some of the worst I have ever seen - and the dubbing near unbearable, but the only reason you or I are watching this movie is for the gore, and this delivers the goods in a way only Peter Jackson's Braindead can claim to live up to. Heads split in two, limbs are lopped off with gay abandon and, in one moment of utter genius, a man is eaten from the arse up.
Visceral doesn't even come close to doing this justice.
If sickly of stomach or totally sound of mind, I would recommend you avoid this blood spattered treat but, for the rest of us, this is a genuine pleasure.
Just great.
