Kubricks elaborate and intricate working of a very good Stephen King novel.
Jack Nicholson is in full on Mad Jack mode as the main characer.

A family move to a hotel that shuts down over the winter, in order to keep it in a good state of maintenance. Unfortunately for them, the hotel is possessed by....something.... that quietly takes control of all of their lives.

Gripping, intense, visually striking, this is intelligent movie making.
The book is followed reasonably closely, though there are some notable changes, but fans of the novel should still enjoy this version of the tale.
A Kubrick classic, and one of the best King adaptations to hit the screen.
