Well, not as bad as I was expecting, and not as bad as many reviews will have you believe.
If that sounds like it is damning the movie with faint praise, it shouldn't, as I actually enjoyed this quite a lot.

13 years after the events of the first movie, the Texan authorities are denying a spate of Chainsaw attacks state-wide, insisting that reports of a serial killer style slaughter is occurring.
When a two-bit cop, Lietenant 'Lefty' Enright shows up on their patch to investigate the death of two jocks at the hands of Leatherface himself, he is given short thrift. See, Lefty has been pursuing the cannibalistic family for a decade now, and has earned himself a reputation as something of a delusionist.
The killing of the jocks just happens to have been caught on tape as they were calling a radio station at the time of the attack (stroke of luck there), and Lefty persuades the host, Stretch, to broadcast it to convince the good people of Texas that the threat is real.
Inevitably, she is then drawn into the events that transpire, as the cannibal family seek revenge, plus something young and supple to feast on.

Losing all the atmosphere of the ortiginal, this is a straight down the line gore movie.
I think it goes for comedy too, but it didn't make me laugh I'm afraid, though few comedies do, I'm such a miserable bastard.
The gore quotient is high, and supplied by no less an authority on the subject than Tom 'Dawn of the Dead' Savini.
If viscera is what you are after, you may enjoy this one, but if it's the subtle terror of the original that floats your boat, forget it.
