From the director of Friday the 13th, and the producer of Terminator 2, you might expect a horror sci-fi pastiche, and you'd be perfectly correct to do so.

The US Navy are in the throes of completing an operation to evaluate the potential for placing some form of biosphere at the bottom of the ocean, to support human life. They discover a potential site, but there is a huge cavern underneath so, being gung-ho American types, they blow the surface away to fill in the cavern. Only the cavern's huge, and reveals a series of hitherto unexplored catacombs and, wouldn't you know it, Here There Be Dragons. Well, not dragons exactly, an arthropod apparently, only a really fucking big one.
And guess what - it's annoyed.

There's plenty of suspense, and a decent enough cast for the budget, but we don't get to see much of the monster.
Still, enjoyable enough B movie fodder.
