Favourite line:Ladies and Gentlemen... I give you... KONG! THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD!

Aaaaahhhh, Monkey....
After the first hour is out of the way, which is dull and tedious in the extreme, this film kicks into life when we finally reach Skull Island.
CGI overload is a danger here, but is avoided as the CGI that is used is both necessary and extremely effective.
None stop action from the moment it kicks in, this is high adrenalin, modern cinema of high quality.
Jackson handles the action scenes with conviction - the scene featuring the Brontosaurus' running for their lives down the gorge is spell binding, and similarly the scene in the valley of huge insects attacking our heroes.
The empathy that people talk about feeling towards Kong is over stated in my opinion, though. I didn't really feel any connection to the great beast, or none more than I would feel towards anything that was suffering.
Well, maybe more than if it were Tony Blair.
A good film, if flawed.
