Wilfully daft skating comedy, in which two skating rivals are pitted together.
Will Ferrell plays Chazz Michael Michaels, ice skatings bad boy(!), and Jon Heder plays Jimmy MacElroy, the polar opposite. After competing against each other, they become embroiled in a fight and are duly banned from all competition for life.
However, there is a loophole, as they are only banned from the event in which they were registered - mens singles - so they are convinced to team up to form the worlds first male-male doubles partnership.
And that's it.
The premise may be as thin as the ice they skate on, but the film holds together well, and actually made me laugh out loud on several occasions, something that too few comedies manage.
It's all very silly, and there's a few too many pratfalls for my liking - a sure sign of writer desperation - but the skating scenes are a hoot, and the leads likeable enough.
Enjoyable fluff.
