The name Ridley Scott attached to a movie is generally a sure fire sign of quality, and this is no different.

The movie is based on a real life account of a military manoeuvre in Somalia. The American military moved into the Capital city, Mogadishu, to make a move against a Somali warlord by kidnapping two of his top men. Unfortunately for the troops, all does not go to plan, and one of the Black Hawk helicopters is taken out, crash landing in a very dangerous region of the city. From here, the action focuses on the desperate attempts to reach the survivors, and extract the entire team from the area.

The direction is superb, really putting you on street level, and it has to be the finest example of urban warfare captured on film to date.
Interesting and thought provoking, this is an action movie with intelligence and a conscience.
