Jet Li plays Huo Yung Jia, a martial arts expert who gradually, through time, discovers that martial arts are meant to enrich and empower the individual, not to be used as a means of attack or revenge. In his early days he is determined to become the number one fighter in China, but through time, he discovers that the true battle to be fought is with yourself.
Powerful and moving, with a strong message of peace, this is potent stuff.
The direction is top draw, the costumes and scenery sumptuous.
A great film.
