Dark, moody and sinister anime which focuses on a small group of young girls who are brainwashed and trained to become professional assassins.
Each child is abducted from hospital, put through the brain cleaning program, and assigned to a mentor.
Episode by episode we follow the different girls as they are set new assignments and dispatched to brutally gun down enemies of the state.
The imagery is startling, the idea chilling - young girls no older than eight being used as killers, with no power to resist - and the atmosphere throughout sombre.
This is slow paced, thoughtful and gripping stuff, and not for the easily offended.
