Very good alien invasion series, which is very definitely one that can be labelled 'Post X-Files'.
The Everglades provides the backdrop to a sinister yet subtle alien takeover of a local population. The assumption is that this is the prelude to a worldwide invasion, though this is never emphatically confirmed, and it is this air of mystery and enigma that is the shows great strength.
The location work is also a fine attribute, as it is an unusual location for a mainstream show, adding a real sense of menace, particularly during the night time scenes. Crucially as well, it's all pretty creepy.
On top of all that, the characterisation is strong, the acting good, and the plot intriguing. It's a genuine mystery why this wasn't picked up for a second series.
