Favourite line:"...if it is any consolation I have heartburn that is radiating in my knee caps and I haven't taken a dump since like Wednesday...morning."

Ellen Page (Hard Candy) plays the titular character in this excellent, small scale movie.

She's sixteen, and is unfortunate enough to fall pregnant the one and only time she has sex. The father is a good hearted, geeky long distance runner. Juno decides to give the kid up for adoption as soon as it is born, and finds a seemingly perfect couple, willing to pay all health expenses and desperate for a child. Juno gets to know the couple, and forges an unusually close relationship with the male, due to the fact that their tastes are so similar - he's into punk, gore movies and playing guitar. Suffice to say, the wife, played by Jennifer 'Alias' Garner, is none too impressed, though matters don't resolve themselves quite as you might expect.

And that is the beauty of the movie.
Nothing follows a well-trodden path, you never quite know which way the movie is going and, truthfully, not a lot really happens, but it doesn't need to as the film is all about the dialogue.
Excellently scripted, beautifully acted, this movie shows you can make a film about relationships and love without being in any way sentimental.
Funny, quirky and warm, this is a lovely film.
