Favourite line:"You must learn to be faster than any punch or kick, that way won't get hit."

One of Van Damme's earliest movies, and certainly his break through role, this is great fun if you can ignore the cliches, awful soundtrack and risibly predictable plot devices.

Wam Bamme's brother is a world class kickboxer, and wants to win the championship in Thailand, the spiritual home of the sport. Unfortunately for the brother, he has the bad luck to come up against Tong Po, a less than savoury character who is a brutal and effective fighter, who paralyses him during the fight. Of course, from then, it's down to The Belgian Brick Shithouse to master the finer points of kickboxing, and take revenge.

The best moments come during the training, and Master Zion is a genuinely likeable character, getting all the best scenes and lines.
Braindead, for sure, but good fun nonetheless if only for the fight scenes.
