Favourite line:"They say Japan was made by a sword. They say the old gods dipped a coral blade into the ocean, and when they pulled it out four perfect drops fell back into the sea, and those drops became the islands of Japan. I say, Japan was made by a handful of brave men. Warriors, willing to give their lives for what seems to have become a forgotten word: honor."

Visually impressive and epic in scale, this is a tale of culture conflict, and one mans' dawning realisation that everything he ever believed may not be as noble as he once thought.

Bruise plays Nathan Algren, a veteran of the American Civil War who is as jaded and embittered as they come. His assignment is to plot the destruction of the last remaining Samurai's, a proud and noble people who forego the trappings of modern warefare and focus instead on their traditional beliefs. When he is captured by their forces, he learns to re-evaluate his previously held notions, and before long, has adopted their culture as his own.

Moving, powerful, with a huge cast and superb battle scenes, this is the Braveheart of the Orient.
