Jackie Chan in period mode here, an area more usually associated with his martial art contemparies Jet Li and Chow Yun Fat. Inevitably though, there is a comedic element that isn’t present in such fare as 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Hero'.
Jackie Chan plays Fei-hung, a skilled martial artist, who inadvertantly becomes embroiled in a feud between two factions - one that wishes to export and sell Chinese artefacts, and the other who wishes them to remain in their homeland. Unfortunately for the feuding parties, Jackie's character has developed a new fighting technique called Drunken Boxing(!), making him almost unstoppable....
Silly, for sure, but this is still good fun and, as always with Jackie, the fight scenes and stunts are worth sitting through any daft moments.
