First and grittiest of what would become one of the most successful action series in cinema history.
Mel Gidson plays Riggs, a cop on the edge, tormented by suicidal impulses and a genuine death wish, as a result of losing his wife.
Danny Glover is the sensible half of the pairing, Murtaugh, a regular family man who just wants to make it through to retirement.
Inevitably, the odd couple have to pit their wits against a drugs cartel run by Vietnam veterans, some of whom Riggs knowsw from his days in service.
Pulasting action with real edge, and the two leads are superb.
This is a top quality action flick.
