Director:Alan Parker
Genre:Powerful legal thriller

IMDB link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289992/
Tagline:The crime is clear. The truth is not.
Favourite line:Gale: "So, basically, you feel, to choose another quote, 'society must be cleansed of elements which represent its own death.'" Governor Hardin: "Well, yes. I'd have to agree. Did I say that too?" Gale: "No, that was Hitler."

Kevin Spacey is in top form in this thought provoking and shockingly under-rated flick, which deals with issues of morality rarely tackled elsewhere in any form of media.

Spacey plays an activist, fervently against capital punishment, but he is now on death row charged with murdering a co-activist.
Kate Winslet plays a journalist writing a detailed article on the man in question, and the story Spacey has to tell her is both shocking, moving and traumatic.

Excellently played by all involved, this is poignant, intelligent, and disturbing. The reality of the events depicted adds to the sense of gravitas.
Compelling and thoughtful, this feels as if it should be one of those 'based on a true story' flicks, but I don't actually think it is.
A superb movie.
