Favourite line:"Are you prepared to be The GodFocker?"

You know, Christmas comes and Christmas goes, but one thing you can begin to count on every few Yuletides: a vaguely substandard Meet the Parents movie.

The plot:
With grubby urchins underfoot, it is time for our hero Greg to step up to the plate and become the Godfocker and, only by doing so, will he alleviate the concerns of De Niro's patriarch Jack.

And that's it in terms of plot.
Along the way we have the usual hijinx: Owen Wilson's odious presence sending Greg into spasms; a projectile vomiting incident that would have been very funny indeed if not ruined by the focking trailer; and the sight of Ben Stiller manfully handling De Niro's Man Handle.
Bizarrely, despite the title, the kids barely get a nod which, frankly, was something of a relief.
It's funny in spurts.
It's annoying by the bucket load.
Depressingly, it's still probably the best comedy of the year.
May the Holy Christ spare us in his mercy.
